The Battle of Ulundi Memorial commemorates the last battle of the Anglo-Zulu War and marks the final defeat of the Zulu army in 1879. It is possibly the only monument in the world honoring both sides in the battle. One wing of this poignant domed monument, set on the site of the British square, houses a plaque listing the names of the British soldiers killed in the battle, the other wing houses a plaque with the words "In Memory of the Brave Zulu Warriors who fell here in 1879 in Defence of the Old Zulu Order".
Getting There
The Battle of Ulundi Memorial is situated just south of Ulundi and is located just east of the town's small airport. The site is accessible from the R66. Follow the signs for the Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park (Cengeni Gate).
Hours & Times
The monument is always open.
Things to Keep in Mind
There are no facilities at the memorial.
