Fun Family Trips

Brown Hyena

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park - place of thirst in SAN - is as rugged as it is remote. But it is worth the effort tenfold. Spot cheetah, leopard, hyena and Kalahari lion with its definitive black-mane. Watch snake eagle, bateleur, and variety of vulture, as well as the gabar goshawk, pygmy falcon and greater kestrel. Predators of every kind. View herds of herbivores - blue wildebeest, springbok, eland, red hartebeest and gemsbok - as they migrate across sparely vegetated landscape. Observe the intricate family structure of the ground squirrel and suricate (also known as meerkat). These mammals may be small but they offer hours of entertainment. Take in the endless horizon of red sand dunes. Snap artistic photographs of solitary trees and dry riverbeds. An African safari is about more than just wildlife. But what makes a safari in this first-ever Peace Park truly unique is the total lack of crowds. There are more than 3.6 million hectares of Kalahari Desert to discover and very few people doing it.
